Gerard F. Tempest, in his stylistic evolution, represents a rare phenomenon of artistic and intellectual toil (torment). The current inclination of his Abstract
Spirtualism, as he defines it, emerges from an impassioned research and a
profound analysis of the intimate nature of things.
His artistic interests, derived from an absolute command of
figurative art, introduced
him to a vast search into the intellectual avant-garde. Having lived
in a climate of great contrasts, he made a rigorous choice translation all
representative elements into his own inner language of lines and brushstrokes,
all imbued with light.
Tempest, penetrating the secret significance of things, has
searched and found
a point of encounter between reality and art with a great authority of technical
means. The melting away of his coloring has a cosmic reference in
which perception acts as mediator between the creative process and that of
the dialectic. From his color a light is born that emerges from the image as a precise
pictorial thought flowing across a resplendent chromatic drafting/abstracts. The fascination of Tempest’s art manifests
itself in its
ample space of color
in a rhythm of simple and linear harmony composites where
light seems to materialize itself into thousands of impalpable transparencies.
